I'll Be Home for Christmas

Josh Groban sings "I'll Be Home for Christmas" on his Christmas CD titled "Noel," and I can't help but cry every time I hear it. Within the song there are spoken messages, from soldiers and soldiers' family members, of Christmas wishes to loved ones. I literally tear up simply writing about the song. Mark spent a Christmas in Baghdad, Iraq. Taylor was four years old and Spencer had just turned one. It doesn't seem that long ago, but I guess it has been a few years. Listening to this song reminds me of how grateful I am that Mark is now home for Christmas. I love him so much. He is an amazing husband and a wonderful father. I am so proud of the sacrifices he has made for our family. There are so many soldiers currently serving our country all over the world, sacrificing so much for our freedom. My best friend Tami's younger brother, Bryce, is serving in Iraq right now. This is his second tour there. I hope that we can all remember these wonderful soldiers, and their families, in our thoughts and prayers. They give so much and I am so grateful. Below are a couple pictures from our Christmas apart in 2005.

Taylor had so much fun picking out Christmas decorations and treats to send to her daddy in Iraq. We took a picture of her with the Christmas goodies right before we shipped them off.

On Christmas Eve, the kids and I opened our package from Iraq. Mark sent fun gifts, including t-shirts for the kids that said, "My Day is Here," and it had an arrow pointing to a map of Iraq. The back of the shirt said, "Who's your Baghdaddy!"

If you haven't heard Josh Groban singing "I'll Be Home for Christmas," you can listen to it right now. It is the first song on my playlist below.

Wow, it does seem like that was so long ago! And when you look at Spencer, it was forever ago. (He was so little!) I love that Josh Groban CD, my favorite. And we're still waiting to hear from Bryce...haven't heard since he got over there.
