Decorating for Christmas

I love decorating the house for Christmas. I love putting up the tree, with its beautiful white lights, and hanging all of our wonderful ornaments on it. Each ornament has a precious memory attached to it, that we can't help but remember. I love watching the kids' excitement . . . Taylor's excitement as she pulls out the ornaments and decorations saying, "Oh! I remember this!" and Spencer's excitement as everything seems brand-new to him. It is wonderful. I truly love Chrismtas and all it entails.

Decorating the Christams tree . . .
Our tree began many years ago as a decorative tree, filled with beautiful ribbon, bells, rustic stars and cinnamon stick bundles. Since then, our tree has grown into a wonderful collection of precious ornaments that Taylor and Spencer have made, ornaments from friends and family, and ornaments we have collected from our travels. This was our first year hanging an ornament we bought at the White House visitor's center this past year. It is beautiful and brings back memories of our many visits to the White house and other monuments and sights in Washington DC. I feel so blessed to have lived there for a little while.

A few of my favorite decorations . . .
This is my big, fat Santa I made at Super Saturday when we were stationed at Edwards Air Force base in California. My best friend Tami was visiting me that day, so she has a matching Santa of her own.

I also made this nativity that day. Again, Tami has a matching nativity! Fun memories!

This is my new favorite decoration. Mark had a business trip in Luxembourg this past year, lucky him, and this is what he brought back for me. He was able to travel to Germany while there and buy it. It is completely hand-carved and beautiful. I love it.

Fun memories. That is a neat wooden nativity set that Mark gave you. I love the candy cane eating race above too, that's so funny.

What a beauty! My dad served his mission in Germany and one year as part of our Christmas present, he gave myself and each of my sibilings one. We light the candles during our Christmas Eve dinner. My kids love it as I am sure yours will too!

Mark grew up with a smaller version of the German nativity...and it was always one of his favorites. Be careful not to leave the candles burning too long. I did one night and one of them burned down and started to burn the wood on the holder. My only excuse ( too busy a mom) Just a memory flash your picture gave me. Love, Mom

Your tree is beautiful, I'm jealous that your children don't tear the decorations off and throw them around. :(
