And I wish all of you could be here! On Sunday, Taylor will be singing a duet in Sacrament meeting. I still can't believe my shy, little Taylor-girl is going to be singing in Sacrament meeting. (She is SO MUCH braver than her mom!) Here's the whole story . . .
A few months ago, Taylor asked if she could sing in Sacrament meeting, and I told her I really wasn't sure. (I didn't know how to go about arranging that sort of thing.) So I mentioned Taylor's desire to my friend, Kristi, and she said Taylor could absolutely sing in Sacrament. She would arrange it all and sing with her. (There was no way I could sing with her, (I don't sing in public,) so I was very grateful for her offering. Kristi has a beautiful voice.) So, once it was officially decided, Kristi made the arrangements and chose "Silent Night" to sing in December. The arrangement she chose is really pretty. The vocal arrangement is the same as in the original piece, but the piano arrangement is completely different. Taylor will sing the first verse, Kristi will sing the second verse and they will sing the third verse together. They began practicing together quite a while ago, casually after piano lessons. (By the way, Kristi is also Taylor's piano teacher.) Then they began practicing at the church with the pianist two weeks ago. Well, guess what?! Taylor has a wonderful voice. I don't know how I didn't know this. She has always sung around the house, but I guess I have never really listened, or maybe I just never took it very seriuosly before now, but She really sounds good. And, she does such a good job. She sounds professional and . . . perfect! She stands behind the podium, confident and beautiful, and just sings. She amazes me. Each time she and Kristi have performed it over these past two weeks, I've cried. Hopefully, I will get all my tears out before the real performance. I don't want to cry through it on Sunday.
I guess I am just so proud of Taylor. She is growing up, gaining confidence and is turning into such a beautiful girl. I love her so much. And, I can't wait to hear her sing on Sunday, especially so I can see Mark's face. (He hasn't heard her yet!) I truly wish you could all be here. I told Mark that I want to secretly record it, but I won't. Why? Because I am a rule-follower. Sometimes I wish I wasn't! Anyway, wish her luck!

Man! I wish I could be there to hear her! I'm so excited for her. I just know she will do great! It doesn't surprise me that she can sing! Both of her parents can! :) Good luck Taylor!! We'll be thinking of you!
Wow! That is so exciting, she is very brave. You should record her when they are practicing. You can't miss that opportunity. Besides everyone is going to want to hear.
Oh, that is really cool. And that it was her idea too, wow!
I am so incredibly excited for her! And you guys! That's exciting. I'm sure she'll do great. That's a good idea, to record her practicing because I know I would LOVE to hear it. Is it really against the rules to just record the sound? I know my parents used to, and still, record baby blessings. Then my mom types them out. Anyways, tell Taylor good luck, I can't wait to hear all about it! :)
Can't you break the rules -- just this once? We all want to hear it!! Good luck Taylor - we are so proud of you!
I'm so proud of you Taylor, you are very brave not many adults will do that. I thought about you all day on Sunday and couldn't wait to call you and see how it went. I love you my sweet girl
That is so cool, Jamie! What a fun thing to be happening in your home!! She really is growing up, and in such a good way!
Even though you couldn't record it in Sacrament meeting, why not have them sing it again, like they did in practice, and record that?
It's cool she's discovered a talent, and one she herself wants to share without any hesitation. What a cool girl!
