South Carolina Zoo

The Friday after Christmas, we drove to Columbia, South Carolina, to spend the weekend with my sister, Danna, and her new husband, Josh. It was a fun weekend and went by too fast. Friday night, we had dinner at Josh's parents house. They were very kind and welcoming. After dinner we checked into our hotel. We stayed at the USC Inn. It was beautiful. I wish I had taken pictures of it. I meant to, but forgot. The next morning, we went to the zoo. The weather was just cold enough that the zoo wasn't crowded, yet not too cold to walk around and enjoy ourselves. Perfect. Below are pictures from our morning at the zoo.
For pictures, Spencer either gives us great, cheesy smiles, or mean, snarling grimaces. Don't ask me why. He was perfectly happy at the zoo that day, yet half of the pictures he is snarling and looking quite unhappy, as you can see above and below.
Taylor's face says it all!
This picture doesn't give the flamingos the justice they deserve. I had never seen such bright, pink flamingos.
Feeding the giraffes was the highlight for me. They were so cute, with their big, brown eyes, and they were very, very friendly.

Finally! A smile!
Oh darn. Back to grimacing.
A quick family picture as we were leaving the zoo, and everyone is smiling!

Ooh, it looks cold, but I'm glad it wasn't too cold. That is awesome that you got to feed the giraffes. I always thought they were so cool in real life, with their spots. Pictures just don't do them justice.

That was so much fun! I'm so glad we went to the zoo. I've always wanted to feed a giraffe.

Feeding the Giraffe how fun it that. You are so lucky. I think maybe that would be a fun family trip next year. It has been a while sense we have been to the Zoo.
