Today was such a special day and has ruined all future school field trips for me. Today I got to accompany Spencer and his 5th grade class to DC. Almost every child in Spencer's class had a parent or two attend, so the only child I had to officially chaperone was Spencer. It was wonderful! On top of that, we were given free reign of the city. We were simply given instructions and time frames of where and when we had to be specific places. So, so wonderful! We started at the Capitol. After a few minutes walking the grounds, we walked to the Museum of Natural History. Here we had two hours to ourselves, roaming the museum on our own. We then met up with his class for lunch. After lunch, we had two and a half hours to tour the monuments, again on our own. Spencer and I visited the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the White House, the Washington Monument, the Thomas Jefferson Memorial and the WWII Memorial. We were exhausted by the time we finished our day, but it really was such a special day. I don't always get an entire day to myself with Spencer and I thoroughly enjoyed it. He is an awesome kid and so much fun to be around.
