The pictures tell the story perfectly. Before the reception started, Taylor was all smiles, very excited to be there. Once the reception began, and she had to stand in front of a gym full of teachers, parents and students, she was all frowns. (She doesn't like being the center of attention.) Once the reception was over, she was all smiles again. She is too funny. As she was standing up there, I was thinking to myself, wondering what everyone thought of this grimacing girl receiving an award for Student of the Year, and then I thought, if she was standing up there if front of everyone with a huge smile on her face, she wouldn't be my Taylor girl. As Taylor stood up there frowning, her teacher said aloud, "Taylor has been very involved in learning this year. She was new to [this school] in the fall. Taylor fit right in and made friends. She is an encourager of her classmates and often leaves notes on the desks of classmates whom she catches doing a good job. Taylor has been a pleasure to teach. Congratulations, Taylor!" Yes, I teared up, and so did her dad.

I know exactly how she feels
Taylor, I know how you feel. I don't like standing in front of crowds either. Funny right. A teacher does it all day long. Congratulations on your reward. Such a great learning time in your life right now.
