Memorial Day Weekend

We had a really great long-weekend!

On Saturday, we went to see Kung Fu Panda 2. It was a fun movie and everyone enjoyed it. Afterward, we went to Chipotle for lunch, (yum,) and Sweet Frog for dessert, (double-yum!) Spencer had been looking forward to visiting Sweet Frog for a very long time, (his classmates had told him all about it,) and, thankfully, it lived up to all of his expectations. We made it home from Sweet Frog just as a huge rainstorm rolled in. Since there wasn't any thunder or lightening, the kids spent the next 45 minutes playing in the rain, something that doesn't happen very often here. They had a blast. After that, everyone was pretty exhausted, so we spent the rest of the day relaxing together as a family, watching movies, etc. It really was one of those perfect family days and a perfect beginning to our long-weekend.

On Monday, we started our day by visiting Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond. It serves as the final resting place of two American presidents, six Virginia governors, two Supreme Court justices, twenty-two Confederate generals, and thousands of Confederate soldiers. We had never visited before and thought it an appropriate place to visit on Memorial Day. It was an interesting and humbling place to visit.

The remainder of the day included silly string, sprinklers, a BBQ with our ward's missionaries and sidewalk chalk.
