Apologies and Excuses (Kids Bathroom Update)

So, I realize I have been a little negligent when it has come to my New Year's resolution these past two weeks, (making "house" goals.) I'm sorry. I have a million excuses, none of which are really good, but here they are. First, I've been sick. Nothing deadly, or even really terrible. Just a little cold, but I am terrible when I am sick. I get NOTHING done! Second, I haven't had anything really to work on. REALLY! I guess that's only two excuses, but the fact is, I think, for now, I am done with my New Year's resolution. It served its purpose. I've gotten so much done in the last five months. All those little, nagging projects are completed. I am sure, in the fall, I will be back at it, after we've accomplished a few more bigger projects, again making curtains and hanging pictures, but for now, I AM DONE.

So, today! We've accomplished everything we've wanted to on the first floor of our home, other than 3 big projects . . . new living room carpet, new kitchen/dining room flooring and new kitchen countertops. All big projects, all requiring BIG BUCKS. As we wait for the big bucks to roll in, we are moving on to the second floor, and the second floor requires Mark, (hence my quitting of my New Year's resolution.) The kids' rooms are both completed, so we are down to the hallway, our bedroom and the two bathrooms. We've decided to start on the kids' bathroom. It is our "test" bathroom. We are going to learn to lay tile in it. Yikes! A little scary, but I think we can do it. Well, we are doing it! Mark is diving in as I type. The old linoleum is coming up today!

The linoleum doesn't look terrible in the picture, but it is. It is white and has enough texture to capture dirt . . . dirt that WILL NOT come out. So, we are upgrading to something a little nicer and something that will hide dirt a little better. Other than the final reveal, my favorite part of renovations is watching Spencer work by Mark's side. The minute Spencer sees Mark pull out his tools, he grabs his own tools and is glued to his side. It is very cute. Spencer even grunts as he works, just like his dad. So cute.

I will update as progress is made. Wish us luck!

Hey, no apologies needed. You did what you needed to do, and got it done. Way to go. Those two boys look ready for destruction! Can't wait to see the 'after' pics!

Oh, we need to do that in our bathroom too. So I'm glad to see how you do it first! Hahaha. Ours has CARPET in our bathroom though! Whoever thought of that was strange. Good luck!
