House Update

We have had a very busy week, working hard to complete a few projects on our to-do-list.

Over the weekend, we painted the living room ceiling. This was more difficult than we thought it would be, but it is done, thank goodness. This weekend we will continue painting more ceilings.

Yesterday I sanded the extremely weathered front porch, getting it ready for its new, white paint. I then painted the front porch. It turned out very nice, but again, this was more difficult than I thought it would be. Actually, not difficult, just tedious. I learned a valuable lesson though. I learned that I can paint with Spencer laying on my lap, hanging on my arms and back and chattering a mile a minute. Let's just say it is amazing we both survived the day.

Last night Mark put in our new mailbox. I love it. This doesn't seem like such an amazing thing, but when you see the picture of the mailbox that came with the house, you will understand. Stenciled butterflies? It was really just awful, so I am very, very happy with its replacement.

So, that is a little update on what we have been working on. We have now owned our home for three months, and I think we are doing pretty well, slowly fixing it up. I have been taking lots of pictures along the way and journaling about the experience of owning our first home. One day we can look back and see all that we accomplished.

I love my front porch. I just need two white rockers and it will be perfect.
