Thanksgiving Weekend

This past weekend was a whirlwind of a weekend and I couldn't have enjoyed myself more. We were so blessed to have my sister and her family spend Thanksgiving weekend with us. It had been over ten years since we spent Thanksgiving with family. We've had a lot of wonderful Thanksgivings over the years with friends and sometimes alone, but none were quite as special as this one. I wish I could hit rewind and do it all again.

Thanksgiving Day
Danna, Josh, Elliott and Piper arrived late Wednesday night. After catching up, we all went to bed, excited at the thought of the next day. We awoke happy Thursday morning and started our Thanksgiving Day celebrations. It was a pretty perfect day. We watched a bit of the parade on tv. Taylor painted the little girls' fingernails. Mark and Josh played football with the kiddos, while they kept an eye on the turkey frying in the deep fryer. Danna and I put together the rest of the Thanksgiving meal. We ate. After stuffing ourselves, we relaxed with some football on the tv and later in the evening, we played Telestrations, a really fun game. Again, it was a pretty perfect day.
Friday and Saturday
Friday and Saturday were pretty perfect days as well. On Friday, we did a whole lot of Black Friday shopping in the morning, had lunch at Cafe Rio and played Settlers of Catan in the evening, another great game. On Saturday, the boys did a bit more shopping in the morning, while the girls rested. In the afternoon, we all went shooting, which was a blast.

Taylor showing off her crown braid while out shopping. It was my first attempt and I think it turned out pretty good!
Sunday
Sunday brought church and goodbyes. It is always so hard to say goodbye, but it is a little easier now that Danna and Josh are living in South Carolina. It is so nice to know they are just a five hour drive away. Our next visit can't come soon enough.
