To begin, here are a few "before" pictures. Unfortunately, I never got a picture of the rooms before we purchased new furniture and painted the walls gray, but you get the idea.
Flooring coming up! Goodbye gross carpet and outdated wood!
Here is where we hit a few bumps! Oh, it was stressful. Looking back, those bumps don't seem so bad, but living through those bumps was not fun. First, we found out our fireplace was not installed correctly. We thought at first the floors were unlevel, which would not have been fun either, but it ended up that the floors were level, but the fireplace wasn't. We decided to go ahead with the floor installation and prayed that we would be able to finish off the fireplace without it looking too awkward. Thankfully, we were able to do so, but not before we hit a second bump. We found out that our French doors leading to our back deck had rotted out and needed to be replaced. This was an expensive find and cost us a lot of time. At first we were told we had to wait two weeks for the new doors to be delivered. That seemed like a terrible deal to us! Well, two weeks would have been wonderful. The doors ended up taking seven weeks. Living without our living room and piano room for seven plus weeks was not fun, especially since all of our furniture was piled in our dining room and kitchen. Thankfully, the doors were eventually delivered (we were beginning to doubt their existence) and we were able to move on.
Spencer loved helping his dad!
Finally, here are the "after" pictures! The completed time frame has us pulling up the old flooring on March 25th and finishing installing the new flooring on June 3rd. I wasn't kidding when I said it was quite the process.
Home sweet home.
