"This is my first date with a lady."

The past two months have been difficult ones for Spencer. Our super-confident little man has, somehow, lost his confidence. This loss of confidence, (combined with a couple rounds of strep throat,) has resulted in a lot of tears these past two months. Not a lot tears at home, but a great many tears at school. He's got everybody worried about him! His homeroom teacher. His art teacher. His mom! (He blames art class for a lot of his tears.) To make a long-story short, I promised Spencer a special date with me if he could make it through just one day of school without crying. It took almost two weeks for him to do it, but he finally did it yesterday! He came running off the bus yesterday afternoon, yelling, "I have great news! I didn't cry!" I was so happy for him. I am not sure if he is completely past crying at school, but I hope he is at least headed in the right direction. To complete the story, he got his promised date. His choice of resturant was McDonald's, so that's where he and I went for dinner last night, just the two of us. On our way out the door, he said happily, "This is my first date with a lady." It was so cute. Especially the way he said it. I love my little man.

I love your little man too. I hope he is feeling happier. Tell him that His happy smile, always warmed grandma's heart.

oh my goodness, that is so sweet. With all the old movies you watch together, he probably pictured himself out for a night on the town.
so sweet.

I hope he does better and better. I was a crier at school too, but more like an ongoing, once in a while thing.

Sounds like you are turning it into something he can overcome and be proud of himself for, plus a date with mommy is always exciting. :)
