Counting Down to Christmas

As you know, we haven't been exactly keeping up with our Christmas countdown on a daily-basis this year, but here are a few things we have done to bring the Christmas spirit into our home...

Made a Fort - The kids made a fantastic fort this year and had a fun sleepover inside. (Sounds a little funny and not very Christmas-like, but it is one of our countdown activities and the kids looks forward to it every year!)
Drank Eggnog - I should clarify that Spencer and Mark drank eggnog, and a lot of it, but they don't call it eggnog. To them it's called, "Egg-noggity-nog.
Made Holiday Goodies - We kept it very simple this year and only made fudge and a pretzel mix, made with pretzels, melted white chocolate and mint M&M's.
Watched Christmas Movies - We've watched, "How The Grinch Stole Christmas," "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," "The Santa Claus" and "A Charlie Brown Christmas." Next on the list..."Holiday Inn" and "It's a Wonderful Life." My favorites!
Read Christmas Stories - We've read so many! I can't name them all, but my favorite two twere, "When Jesus Was Born in Bethlehem" and "The Tale of Three Trees," both new books to our library.

We also attended a live nativity this year, which was very fun, and something new for us. It was held at our local zoo, which is owned by members of the church. Along with many actors, there was a donkey, sheep and camels. It was so neat. Mark and the kids were lucky to participate in a small choir that sang between nativity performances. They did great! I hope to make this a family tradition. The kids faces were priceless when Joseph walked by us, leading a donkey carrying Mary. I'll never forget it.
